High-Five Time! Ontario Power moves to greater engagement after IAP2 submission!

In 2013, IAP2 Canada made a submission to the Ontario Power Authority, which included a recommendation to set up Local Advisory Committees (LACs). These would ensure that people and groups affected by – and who would affect – energy projects were engaged sooner – and better.

Now, the Government of Ontario has set up Local Advisory Committees (LACs) to improve engagement in the energy industry in two key regions. The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) has issued a call for public input on three proposed power projects in Northwest Ontario and is also setting up an LAC to help plan energy projects east of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
