IAP2 Certification Program: Assessment Centre launches, Spring 2016

CONSULTATION ACTION-2The application process will open soon for the IAP2 Canada Certification Assessment Center. It’s the product of two years of hard work by an International task force led by IAP2 USA in consultation with membership from Canada, USA, and Southern Africa. The program offers a 2-level certification award: (1) Certified Public Participation Professional and (2) Master Certified Public Participation Professional. Credentials are awarded upon completion and evaluation of a 3-step assessment of candidates. The assessment is based on 5 core competencies that were identified through the membership consultation process.

The Core Competencies includeconsultation action-8:

  • P2 Process Planning and Application
  • P2 Event Planning and Implementation
  • Appropriate Use of Tools and Techniques
  • P2 Communication Skills
  • P2 People Skills

Under these competencies, there are a total of 42 criteria for assessment and the end result is a universal standard that tells anyone, anywhere, that a Certified P2 practitioner meets that standard.
